The National Safety Council has designated April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. It is their goal to remind everyone of the importance of keeping your eyes on the road while driving.

Research shows that thousands of people are killed each year due to distracted driving, with the chief culprit being cell phone use and texting. The NSC urges drivers to keep their attention on the complicated task of driving and warns that even hands free devices can be distracting.

Here is a video sharing one family’s story of how distracted driving devastated their life:

  1. It always makes me so mad when people question gun rights. More damage is done to the population daily by distracted drivers and the accidents they cause than is done by firearms in this country. You don’t see them trying to take away cars or phones, do you?

  2. Did you see that girl who dies while texting “The Happy Song Makes me so Happy!” to her facebook? Those were her last words.. how ironic. Who can think that such a vapid statement is worth risking their life?

  3. The don’t text and drive videos floating around facebook these days are horrifying. They show videos of accidents that are both gut wrenching and heart wrenching. It’s amazing that people will still do things like this when they know that it could very well cause them and their loved ones to be scattered in pieces across the street. Whatever it is, it can wait.
