What Cars Have a 6x132 Lug Pattern?

6x132, also written 6x5.2 inches, is a General Motors pattern, and the vehicle list splits into two eras that almost nobody puts side by side. It ran on the Lambda crossovers from 2007 to 2017, disappeared for five years, then came back in 2022 on GM's electric SUVs. Both eras use the same 6x132 circle and the same 74.5mm hub bore. An old Enclave wheel bolts onto a Lyriq and centers perfectly. It is also carrying about a thousand pounds more vehicle than it was built for.

What Cars Have a 6x132 Lug Pattern?

I have had this conversation at the counter more times than I can count, usually with somebody holding a wheel they bought off a marketplace listing. The list is short, and the two halves of it have nothing to do with each other except the stud circle.

The Lambda era, 2007 to 2017. GM built a family of three-row unibody crossovers on a shared platform and gave all of them the same six-lug hub. Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse. These are family haulers, front-drive based, running 17 to 20 inch wheels with high positive offset.

The electric era, 2022 to now. When GM built its BEV3 architecture, it reached back and used 6x132 again. Cadillac Lyriq and Lyriq-V, Chevrolet Blazer EV, and because GM builds them, the Honda Prologue and the Acura ZDX. Several of the larger Cadillac electrics carry the same circle. This is the half that surprises people, and it is the half the quick answers tend to gloss over.

Read the right-hand column twice. That is the whole problem with this pattern in one place. You are looking at a single bolt circle that spans a gas crossover from the Bush administration and a battery-powered Cadillac, with roughly a thousand pounds between them.

The 2017 Trap: Two Acadias, Two Patterns

If you own a 2017 GMC Acadia, stop and look at your hub before you buy anything.

GM redesigned the Acadia for 2017 and moved it onto a new platform with a 6x120 bolt pattern and a 66.9mm hub bore. But they kept selling the old body that same year under the name Acadia Limited, and that truck is still 6x132 with the 74.5mm bore. Same model year. Same badge on the tailgate. Two bolt patterns that will not interchange.

The Traverse and Enclave went through the same handoff a year later. A 2017 Traverse is 6x132; a 2018 Traverse is 6x120. A 2017 Enclave is 6x132; a 2018 Enclave is 6x120. Most guides give you the model name and a year range and leave it there, which is exactly how somebody ends up with four wheels that will not go on the truck. The Part Nobody Mentions: Hub Bore and Load Rating

Here is what makes 6x132 different from every other pattern I write about, and it is the reason this article exists.

Normally, when two vehicles share a bolt pattern but not a weight class, something else stops you. The hub bore is different and the wheel will not seat. The offset is wrong and it rubs. Something physical intervenes and you find out in the driveway instead of on the freeway.

Not here. The Lambda crossovers and the BEV3 electrics both run a 74.5mm hub bore. Offsets overlap heavily, mostly in the high positive range. A set of 2011 Buick Enclave factory wheels will slide onto a 2025 Cadillac Lyriq hub, center hub-centric the way they are supposed to, torque down clean, and drive off. Nothing warns you.

What is different is the load the wheel has to carry. A wheel carries roughly a quarter of the vehicle's loaded weight, and every wheel sold in this country is assigned a load rating by its manufacturer, tested against SAE J2530 for aftermarket passenger car wheels. That rating is a number on the back of the wheel, usually cast near the valve stem or stamped on the mounting pad, and it has to cover the vehicle's gross axle weight rating divided by two.

Run the arithmetic on the two eras. A Lambda crossover at roughly 4,700 pounds loaded up with people and cargo is asking each wheel to handle something in the neighborhood of 1,700 pounds. A Lyriq starts at 5,557 pounds empty and goes up from there. That is not a rounding difference. It is a different class of wheel, and the electric versions also deliver peak torque from a standstill, which loads the mounting pad harder on every launch than a V6 crossover ever did.

There is a second wrinkle on hub bore. A good share of aftermarket 6x132 wheels are machined with an oversized bore, commonly in the 93mm to 106mm range, so one casting can serve several vehicles. Those are not wrong, but they are not hub-centric out of the box. They need the correct hub-centric rings to bring that bore down to 74.5mm. Without the rings the wheel is centered by the lug seats alone, and on a heavy vehicle that shows up as a steering shimmy at highway speed that no amount of balancing will fix.

Is 6x132 the Same as 6x5.5?

No, and this one costs people real money.

6x132 converts to 6x5.2 inches. 6x5.5 converts to 6x139.7mm. Those are two different patterns 7.7 millimeters apart on the bolt circle, which is a hair over a quarter inch. Both are six-lug. Both look identical leaning against a garage wall. Neither will bolt to the other's hub.

The reason people mix them up is that 6x5.5 is the one everybody has heard of. It is the classic Chevy and Toyota truck pattern, and when somebody says "the six-lug," that is usually what they mean. Look at 6x130 and 6x132 sitting two millimeters apart. Look at 6x127 and 6x132 five millimeters apart, both of them General Motors. That right-hand column matters too: for every wheel built in 6x132, the market builds well over a hundred in 6x139.7. If you own a Lambda crossover or a Lyriq, you are shopping a genuinely narrow shelf, which is another reason a listing that says "fits six-lug GM" deserves a second look.

What Vehicles Have a 6x130 Lug Pattern?

6x130 is European, and it has nothing to do with GM despite sitting two millimeters from 6x132.

You will find it on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, the Volkswagen Crafter and Transporter, and on older air-cooled and early water-cooled Porsche 911 models, which is a combination that makes people blink. The van side and the sports car side ended up on the same circle for entirely unrelated reasons.

Two millimeters is close enough that a 6x130 wheel will look like it wants to go onto a 6x132 hub. The studs will not line up in the holes, but they will get close enough that somebody with a mallet and a bad idea can start threads on a couple of lug nuts. Do not. Will 6x5.5 Fit a Toyota Tacoma?

Yes. The Tacoma has run 6x139.7, which is 6x5.5 in inches, since the truck launched in 1995 and it still does. Same circle on the Tundra through 2021, the 4Runner, the FJ Cruiser and the Sequoia. If you have a Tacoma and somebody hands you a 6x5.5 wheel, the pattern is right.

Pattern being right is not the same as the wheel being right, though. Tacoma hub bore is 106.1mm, which is large, so plenty of aftermarket wheels made for other 6x139.7 trucks need rings. Offset matters too, since Tacoma OE sits around +25 to +30 and a lot of aftermarket 6x139.7 wheels are cut much lower for lifted trucks. Will 6x5.5 Fit a Chevy Silverado?

On a Silverado 1500, yes. Chevrolet has used the 6x139.7 circle on half-ton pickups since the late 1960s, and the current trucks still carry it. That is the pattern most people mean when they say "the Chevy six-lug," and it is why the confusion with 6x132 happens in the first place.

On a Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD, no. Those are eight-lug trucks running 8x180 on the current generation and 8x165.1 on the older ones. A six-lug wheel has no business near them.

And to close the loop on the pattern this article is about: a Silverado 1500 wheel will not fit a Traverse, and a Traverse wheel will not fit a Silverado. Two General Motors vehicles, both six-lug, 7.7 millimeters apart.

Do Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee Have the Same Lug Pattern?

Right now, no, and the answer has flipped back and forth over the years depending on which generation you are standing in front of.

The Cherokee KL, the 2014 through 2023 unibody crossover, runs 5x110. That is a small European circle, shared with things like the Chrysler 200 and some Opel products, and it is nothing like a traditional Jeep pattern. Our 5x110 bolt pattern guide covers what else uses it.

The Grand Cherokee WK2 and the current WL both run 5x127, which is 5x5 in inches, the same circle as the JK and JL Wrangler.

Go back further and it shuffles. The old XJ Cherokee ran 5x114.3, and so did the first Grand Cherokee, the ZJ. So there genuinely was a window in the mid-1990s where a Cherokee and a Grand Cherokee shared wheels. Then the WJ Grand Cherokee moved to 5x127 in 1999 and they parted ways. If somebody tells you Jeep wheels are interchangeable, they are remembering a specific decade.

What the Wrong Wheel Costs You

A pattern that flat out does not fit is the cheap mistake. You find out in twenty minutes, you are annoyed, you ship the wheels back. The expensive mistake is the wheel that fits and should not.

Day one: nothing. The wheel bolts up, the lug nuts torque to spec, it drives. This is the dangerous part. An underrated wheel gives you no feedback at all when it is new and the roads are smooth.

First few months: the shimmy. If the bore was oversized and nobody installed rings, you get a vibration between about 55 and 70 mph. People chase this with balancing, then with new tires, then with an alignment. It is none of those. The wheel is riding on the lug seats instead of the hub, and every bump lets it move a thousandth or two.

Six months to two years: the hardware. A wheel that is not hub-centric transfers all of the vehicle's weight through six lug studs that were designed to clamp, not to carry. Studs stretch. Lug seats wallow out and stop holding torque, so the nuts loosen between services. The Tire Industry Association's wheel service guidance is blunt about re-torque intervals for exactly this reason, and a wallowed seat is one of the conditions that takes a wheel out of service permanently.

The end of the ladder. An overloaded aluminum wheel does not bend gracefully. It cracks, usually at the spoke root or the inboard flange, usually from a pothole it should have shrugged off. A cracked wheel loses air, sometimes fast, and the tire that comes off it is scrap. A sidewall that has been run down or dragged on a failing wheel is not repairable either, which we cover separately in our guide to sidewall damage and whether it is safe to drive.

All of that traces back to a used wheel that bolted on and looked fine.

How to Confirm a 6x132 Fitment

  1. Confirm the pattern on the hub, not from the year. Six-lug is easy to measure because opposing studs sit directly across from each other. Measure center to center on two studs opposite one another and that is your bolt circle. 132mm reads about 5.2 inches. 130mm reads about 5.12. Get a caliper on it if you have one.
  2. Measure the hub bore. The raised lip on the hub that the wheel centers on. Lambda and BEV3 vehicles read 74.5mm. If yours reads 66.9, you are on the newer 6x120 platform and this whole article is the wrong one for you.
  3. Find the load rating on the wheel. Cast or stamped on the back, usually near the valve stem or on the mounting pad. Compare it against your gross axle weight rating divided by two. That GAWR number is on the door jamb placard.
  4. Ask what the wheel was built for. With this pattern specifically, a wheel listed for a 2012 Traverse and a wheel listed for a Lyriq are not the same product even though both say 6x132. If a listing does not tell you, that is your answer.
  5. Sort out hub-centric rings before the wheels arrive. If the bore is bigger than 74.5mm, you need rings sized to bring it down. They cost almost nothing and they are not optional on a vehicle this heavy.
  6. Re-torque after the first 50 to 100 miles. Star pattern, to the manufacturer's spec. Aluminum wheels settle against the mounting pad, and this one check catches a loosening lug before it becomes a problem.
