The 29th Annual Performance Plus Tire Thanksgiving Food Drive & Car Show is back. Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 22, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at our Long Beach shop: 3910 Cherry Avenue. Twenty-nine years in, this is still the best morning of our year, and there is a job for you whether you bring a show car, a case of canned corn, or just two hands willing to pack boxes.
Volunteers of all ages come together to pack over 1,200 boxes of food for more than 600 local families in need, and we do it in one morning. It runs like an assembly line, so nobody needs experience and there are stations for every ability level. Kids do great on the lighter items.
Families are preselected by our partner agencies, so the boxes reach households already identified as needing them. From October 1 through November 22, 2026, we are collecting nonperishable food and cash donations at the store. Cash goes further than most people expect, because we buy in bulk.
The event is free to attend and open to everyone. Start with donuts, coffee, and live jazz from the Jazz Angels, the Long Beach youth program that has become as much a part of this morning as the food line. Our car show welcomes all vintage and modified vehicles at no cost to enter, and there is no judging or class structure, so unfinished projects are just as welcome as finished builds. Show cars should roll in at the front of the 8:00 AM hour for the best placement.
This year's grand prize is a Las Vegas package valued at 2,300 dollars. Entries are 1 dollar each with no limit on how many you buy. The package includes:
On top of the Las Vegas package, additional door prizes are offered exclusively to people who attend the food drive in person. Every attendee can pick up giveaway tickets at the event, so showing up is worth something beyond the coffee.
