When you buy custom wheels, you almost always need new lug nuts. That’s because the lug seat (the shape at the bottom of the lug hole) on aftermarket wheels is standardized by the wheel maker, while OE seats vary widely by vehicle. Using OE lugs on a different seat type can cause loosening, damage, or vibration. We match the correct seat, thread size/pitch, and socket style to your new wheels, so installation is safe and hassle-free.
Aftermarket wheels commonly use a 60° conical (tapered) seat; others may use ball (R12/R13) or mag/flat-seat with shank and washer. The correct lug must match that seat exactly and provide full thread engagement on your studs. We also ensure the hex or spline key clears the wheel’s narrow lug bores (tuner/spline-drive where needed). For background, see Lug Nut Facts and our quick Lug Nut Info.
To choose the right kit, we verify: seat type (cone/ball/mag), thread size & pitch (e.g., M12x1.5, 1/2-20), stud length & required engagement, and socket clearance. If you’re changing wheel size/offset, review basics with Wheel Bolt Patterns Guide, Wheel Offset Explained, and Custom Wheel Backspacing.
Some wheels have tight lug pockets that require tuner/spline lugs and thin-wall keys. We confirm key clearance, brake caliper clearance, and hub bore fit before shipping. Correct lugs help maintain clamp load, which keeps the wheel centered and secure. Always torque to spec and re-torque after 50–100 miles. Match tire load & speed ratings to OE requirements when selecting wheel & tire packages; we’ll verify fitment before your order leaves our warehouse.
Order wheels alone or a Wheel & Tire Package and we’ll include the proper lug kit: seat-matched lugs, key, and valve stems. Prefer added security? Ask about serialized lock kits (e.g., Gorilla-style) for unique keys. Our team removes the guesswork so your install is quick and correct.
