It's that time of year again. For most of the country winter is here. While the images of a white Christmas and children playing in the snow are nice to think about the reality is not so charming. The harsh winter cold, snow and ice can wreak havoc on your home and your car. Fortunately there are some things that you can do to prepare.
Finding the best winter tires depends a lot on where you live. Areas that receive no snow or ice will probably be fine with all-weather tires. On the other hand, [...more]

Many would agree that we do not live in a fair and just
world. It does seem like the universe has ways of redeeming itself though. Through
a Swiss corruption investigation, the opulent vice president of Equatorial New
Guinea, Teodorin Nguema Obiang, had his possessions seized. Just one glance at
the objects repossessed shows that this vice president was certainly living the
high life prior to his conviction.

Mention contact sports, and most immediately reference
American football, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, rugby, roller derby, or karate –
contact is a major part of the game. Other sports qualify, too, like
association football (soccer), field hockey, baseball, and NASCAR – contact happens.
Usually, contacting another racer in NASCAR or IROC might do
more harm than good, but what if we just pulled out all the stops and went
full-contact? The history is a little hazy, but one demolition derby ori [...more]
NASCAR race cars haven’t been “stock” since the late-80s, but they attempt to stay relevant to Joe Everyman and his daily driver. Under the skin, whether it’s a Dodge Charger, Toyota Camry, Chevy Impala, or any other model, all NASCAR vehicles are practically identical. Still, racing technology often makes its way back to our daily drivers, for better power, stability, fuel economy, handling, safety, you name it. Transferring power to the asphalt is where Goodyear Tires has made its mark, criti [...more]
I have never been someone to show a strong interest in cars. Discussions about anything automotive-related have long bored me. Going into a tire or repair shop has always just been an errand to me. I have often associated tire shops with drab concrete walls and misery. So when my boyfriend had us stop by the Performance Plus Tire store in Long Beach, I did not have particularly high expectations.
I initially understood the Performance Plus Tire shop to be a store more geared towards niche au [...more]
Chances are good that, if you are one of nearly a quarter-million registered drivers in the United States, you just might love cars. We’re not talking about just driving cars, as the millions of drivers put on an average of over 13,000 miles per year, but someone who loves driving, someone who loves engines and transmission and car bodies and everything with four wheels and an engine.
Now, it’s one thing to love cars, and maybe you even get to work on your own cars, detailing, upgrading, mai [...more]

The 1990’s were a simpler time,
full of windbreakers, scrunchies, brown lipstick, and sitcoms. One of the
decade’s staples were The Spice Girls. Every teenage girl in the 90’s knew of

The 1980s was a strange time for the automobile, with the
United States fresh from the throes of the Oil Crisis. Some really bad cars
were made in those years, but a few legendary cars from that decade are worth a
look. Hagerty Insurance says Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaros, and Corvettes are in
decent supply, with plenty of parts and aftermarket support for restoration
enthusiasts, but what about something even more special?

We’re always on the go, but staying up to the minute with business, entertainment, or friends can sometimes be a hassle. At your desktop or on your smartphone, information and interaction is available at a moment’s notice, but in a car can be difficult, if not dangerous. Like most automakers and many other companies, Ford Motor Company took a huge hit during the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008. Ford stock bottomed out in January 2009, just like many other companies, but managed to stay afloat. While most companies are clawing their way back to profitability, Ford’s comeback hasn’t been encouraging. Taking, for example, the comparison between the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Ford Motor Company, things seemed to be improving in sync for a few years. Sin [...more]

This is not the story of just any man, but one who overcame great odds to fulfill a dream. He’s been immortalized in records, books, film, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, and even a postage stamp: Niki Lauda, perhaps Formula 1’s greatest legend.

Ask anyone for a good auto repair experience and you’re more likely to hear stories of being overcharged, misdiagnosed, overlooked, ignored, or outright scammed. To begin, auto repair is already expensive. Auto mechanics spend years on training and thousands of dollars on specialized tools and equipment to maintain, diagnose, and repair automobiles. For example, an experienced mechanic might have personally invested up to $30,000 in tools, and the shop might equip a computerized vehicle alignme [...more]

Indeed, why are some automakers cutting more sedans from their
lineups every year? There are at least a couple of good reasons.
